<summary>Is the app really free? Are there any limitations?</summary>

<mark style="background-color:yellow;">Yes, the app is</mark> <mark style="background-color:yellow;"></mark><mark style="background-color:yellow;">**completely free.**</mark>

There are no traffic limitations, no restrictions on monthly views, and no premium features locked behind a paywall. We currently don’t offer any paid plans for the app.

<summary>Why do I need to activate the app?</summary>

<mark style="background-color:yellow;">To ensure the feed widgets display correctly in your theme</mark>. Otherwise, you simply won’t see them in your theme editor, nor in the preview.

The link in the app admin leads to the activation area **of your currently published theme**.

To activate the app manually in any theme, do the following:

1. Choose the theme, and click **Customize** to open the theme editor.
2. On the sidebar of the theme editor, click the **App embeds** icon.
3. Find the **GSC Instagram Feed** app in the list of installed apps.
4. Click the toggle beside **GSC Instagram Feed** to activate it.
5. **Save** the changes in the theme editor.

<summary>Where can I find my widget ID?</summary>

You can find your widget ID inside the app admin.

1. Open the main screen with the list of widgets.
2. Hit **Copy ID** button next to the name of the relevant widget.

3. Paste the ID into the corresponding field in the app block. It looks similar to this:

<summary>Where can I choose a font for my widget?</summary>

The <mark style="background-color:yellow;">widget automatically inherits fonts from the theme</mark> where it is published to better match the overall store design. Because of this, you won’t see the actual fonts in the app admin’s widget editor. They will only be visible in the theme editor.

<summary>Where can I see the number of views for my widgets?</summary>

<mark style="background-color:yellow;">You can see the number of views in your app admin.</mark>

Next to each timer widget in the list, you’ll see a statistics curve showing the **view count**. Hit **More** to open the full-scale diagram with a switch between views **for the last 7, 30, or 90 days.**

<summary>Does the app work with vintage themes (like Debut)?</summary>

<mark style="background-color:yellow;">Unfortunately, no.</mark>

Feed widgets are [app blocks](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-store/themes/theme-structure/extend/apps#app-blocks), which are not supported in vintage themes, such as Debut, [as per Shopify’s documentation](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-store/themes/theme-structure/extend/apps#app-blocks). You can tell your theme is vintage if you can’t add sections and blocks to your store pages other than homepage. <summary>Can I change the widget’s width?</summary>

<mark style="background-color:yellow;">It depends on the theme you use.</mark>

While you can’t control the widgets’ width right in the app, you can do that in your **theme settings**.

To check whether your theme can change the widget’s width, do the following:

1. [Add the app block to the theme page](https://getsitecontrol.gitbook.io/gsc-instagram-feed/add-widget-to-theme#add-the-widget-to-a-page). This creates an **App** section containing your app block.
2. Hit the **App** section to see its settings. As they differ depending on the theme, <mark style="background-color:blue;">**we recommend that you contact your theme developer for more details**</mark>**.**

For example, the free **Dawn theme** lets you change the width to full screen by turning off the **Make section margins the same as theme** setting.

<summary>Can I translate my widget, and does the app support localization?</summary>

**Yes, you can translate the app into your store’s published languages.**\
After you add and publish a language in your store, the **Localization** tab appears in the widget editor. In this tab, you can translate the widget content (texts, button and link labels) into other published store languages.

Note: if you do not add translations manually, the widget displays content in your store’s default language.

<summary>Can I remove the “Run on GSC Instagram Feed” branding from the post popup?</summary>

<mark style="background-color:yellow;">No, this option is not available.</mark>\
As the app is free, branding removal and similar customization options are not supported.

## 🛠 Troubleshooting

<details>

<summary>I can't add the app to my theme, what's wrong?</summary>

Here are the major reasons why this might happen:

1. **You haven’t activated the app**. If you try to add a feed widget to the theme, you’ll need to activate the app in your theme first. This can be done either directly in the app admin or in the theme editor. [Learn how to activate the app](https://getsitecontrol.gitbook.io/gsc-instagram-feed/add-widget-to-theme#activate-the-instagram-feed-app-in-a-theme).
2. **You use a vintage theme (OS 1.0)**, such as Debut. You can tell your theme is vintage if you can’t add sections and blocks to your store pages other than homepage. [Learn about the differences between Shopify theme architectures](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-store/themes/managing-themes/versions). Feed widgets are app blocks, and vintage themes **don’t support app blocks.**
3. **You use a 3d-party theme**, not from the [Shopify theme store](https://themes.shopify.com/). Unlike the themes from the official store, such themes don’t have to follow all of Shopify’s requirements and may not support app blocks or even apps in general. **We recommend that you contact your theme developer to clarify this issue, or switch to a theme from the official** [**Shopify theme store**](https://themes.shopify.com/)**.**

<summary>I see a blank screen instead of the app admin, what’s wrong?</summary>

This issue may be caused by how the app is integrated into the Shopify admin. Since the problem might not be directly related to our app, we’re unable to resolve it on our end. However, you can try the following workarounds:

* If you're using the Shopify mobile app, switch to the desktop version
* Clear your browser data (cookies and cache)
* Disable your browser extensions, firewall, and proxy (they can sometimes interfere)
* Open the Shopify admin in incognito/private browsing mode
* Use a different browser
* Try a different network or IP address
* Switch between mobile data and Wi-Fi

<details>

<summary>I can't see the posts I recently added to my Instagram account, what's wrong?</summary>

<mark style="background-color:yellow;">This is expected behavior based on how auto-synchronization works in the app.</mark>

With Instagram-like flow, your Instagram content updates automatically every day at 12 AM. That said, any posts you publish today will appear in your store by early tomorrow.

<details>

<summary>I selected "Posts" as the widget’s media, but I still see some Reels in the feed, why?</summary>

When you choose "Posts" as the widget’s media, the app pulls content from the "Posts" tab of your Instagram account. This tab can include both regular posts and any Reels you’ve manually added there. That’s why some Reels may still appear in your feed.

<summary>I've added the widget as app block, but its content doesn't appear in the theme, why?</summary>

Here are the major reasons why this might happen:

1. **You haven’t activated the app**. If you try to add a feed widget to the theme, you’ll need to activate the app in your theme first. This can be done either directly in the app admin or in the theme editor. [Learn how to activate the app](https://getsitecontrol.gitbook.io/gsc-instagram-feed/add-widget-to-theme#activate-the-instagram-feed-app-in-a-theme).
2. **You Instagram account got disconnected.** This may happen due to temporary issues on Instagram’s side. To resolve it, disconnect your account in the app admin, then reconnect it.
3. **You changed your Istagram password.** Updating your password can interrupt the connection. To fix this, disconnect your account in the app admin and reconnect it using the new password.

<summary>I see the "400 Session Invalid" error when connecting to Instagram, what should I do?</summary>

This is a known issue on the Instagram website. Unfortunately, because the problem is on Instagram’s side and not related to our app, we cannot resolve it directly. However, we recommend trying the following workarounds:

* Clear your browser data (cookies and cache)
* Connect using incognito/private browsing mode
* Use a different browser
* Use a different device (for example, mobile instead of desktop)
* Connect through a different network or IP address
* Switch between mobile data and Wi-Fi
* Log out of Instagram and reconnect
* Close your browser and the app, then reopen them
* Wait approximately one hour and reconnect (Instagram may recover during this time)
* Remove the connection to our app in your Instagram account (see the GIF below for steps)
